Sunday, Jan. 15 – Communion, skating

Since church was cancelled last week because of the weather, the Celebration of Epiphany and Communion will be held on Sun. Jan. 15.

Benevolent Fund Envelopes will be included in Sunday’s bulletin, as always when we celebrate the sacrament of Communion. Our Benevolent Fund makes it possible for the church to respond to emergency needs on a day-to-day basis: food, shelter, heat, etc. Thank you for considering a gift to the Benevolent Fund. Envelopes can be placed in the offering plate.

And, from 1–2 pm, enjoy skating on the Oval.  St. Matthew’s has invited our church neighbours on the peninsula to begin the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity with a Skating Party at the Oval on Halifax Common for skaters of all ages. Hot cocoa will be provided and non-skaters with an appreciation for ecumenical friendship are also encouraged to come along! Skates are available for free with photo ID.

Tuesday Jan. 17 – Potluck Church

The first Potluck Church of 2017 will be held Tue. Jan. 17 at 5:30 pm in the sanctuary. Bring a food offering and your thoughts on our theme:  “What are you passionate about and why?” If you have never attended a Potluck Church, come and experience our wonderful fellowship and an always-delicious meal.

St. Matthew’s Book Club – Go Set a Watchman

St. Matthew’s Book Club will meet on Tue.
